Mixed In Key Software Releases Version 4.0

Mixed In Key LLC, in conjunction with Allen & Heath, is proud to present Mixed In Key Version 4.0. In this fourth major release, Mixed In Key combines a streamlined design with trusted technology to make harmonic mixing easy.

Mixed in Key is Windows and Mac OS X software which analyzes MP3 and WAV files. It identifies the musical key of every track, and highlights which other tracks are harmonically compatible. Designed to quickly analyze music files, Mixed In Key shows which tracks can be mixed together without a key clash and also detects the BPM.

Mixed In Key President, Yakov Vorobyev:

We designed Version 4.0 for the world’s best DJs. I learned that simplicity is what makes DJs enjoy using our software. We kept the right balance of functionality and ease-of-use in Version 4.0.

New version features:
• Improved algorithm to find the key of every track
• Improved graphic design
• A fast way to create playlists in “Browse Collection” to organize music files
• New quality-control feature: While scanning music files, Mixed In Key detects if the volume is too loud, the song is off-key or there are too many clipped peaks. Version 4.0 suggests how to improve those audio files to make them sound better for a live DJ performance
• Ability to add custom keywords to each track for quick searching

Harmonic mixing is an advanced technique used by top DJs all over the world. By mixing tracks that are in the same or related keys, harmonic mixing enables long blends and mash-ups. To help DJs learn this method, Mark Davis created the Camelot wheel, a visual representation of which musical keys are compatible with each other:

On the Camelot wheel, each musical key is assigned a keycode number from one to twelve, like hours on a clock. There is a science on which keys are compatible that can be read about here. Trust me, you want to read it.

Mixed In Key really is an extremely user-friendly product to use. With three steps to determining your song’s keys prior to playing, it makes mixing on-the-fly much quicker.

Step One: Add your music files to Mixed In Key

Step Two: Click “Start Processing” and Mixed In Key will scan your files. It will show which songs are harmonically-compatible.

Step Three: Browse your collection and find great songs to mix together yourself. You can use Mixed In Key results with CD-Js, Ableton Live, Traktor, Serato Scratch Live, Torq, and all other DJ software. Mixed In Key is compatible with all DJ products.

Result: Flawless Essential Mixes, mash-ups, and live performances.

Version 4.0 is available in two styles:
The original theme is available at www.MixedInKey.com.
The Allen & Heath theme is available from www.Xone.MixedInKey.com.

Pricing is the same for both versions:
Just 58.00 USD for the Mac OSX or Windows digital download.

Mixed In Key software fans include Pete Tong from BBC Radio 1, Dubfire from Deep Dish, High Contrast, Kaskade and even myself, Sucio. Read the full list of reviews and testimonials here.

Oh, and did I mention this product was awarded “Best DJ Tool of 2008″ in the annual DJ Mag Tech Awards?
