So, I’ve been on a bit of a dubstep tip lately and wanted to shed some light on another one of the homies. DLX has been a fixture in the west coast community since 2006 and his skill has appropriately earned him his rank as as one of the founders of the LA dubstep movement.
A longtime resident for SMOG, as well as Pure Filth, DLX’s first dubstep gig was in early 2007, where he opened for Kode 9 in Los Angeles at the now legendary Higgins Gallery. He has also manned the decks for various other dubstep events, including LA Dubstep Nostra @ Bordello Bar, Redline in San Francisco, and Bassrush in LA.

A North Carolina native, DLX studied a variety of music styles during his youth. Introduced first to piano (and later picking up the guitar), he found himself in a punk band as both a vocalist and guitarist by the age of 13.
After experimenting with electronic music, he developed an affinity for the sounds of drum & bass and the likes of such artists as Dillinja, Photek, and Roni Size. Years of DJ’ing, hosting a radio show in North Carolina dubbed Runnin Radio, as well as hosting numerous NC drum & bass events with the Runnin’ Crew, DLX left the east for the west with a Film & Production degree and an arsenal of tunes sure to define his spot in this city’s scene.
With a fat stack of dubs slated for proper release later this year, DLX already has a slew of releases and remixes under his belt on various Dubstep labels worldwide, demonstrating a keen ear for everything from dancefloor bangers to downtempo vibes.
Here’s a few bits for ya.
