The Standard Hotel has always been one of the more chic places out of town guests stay upon their visit to Hollywood. With its hip retro decor, live Box Girls behind the front desk and DJs playing nightly in the lobby, this “hotel of the future” does its best to stay on top of trends within the music world. Last Thursday the Native Instruments company came to the hotel and hosted a little soiree to feature their DJ software that has been making strong headway in a Serato-dominated field; Traktor Pro. An eager crowd of DJs and Standard taste-makers (including Daniel Ledisko of LA Riots, the ladies of Staccato, Valida and myself) watched as Droid’s Drumcell and DMC Champ DJ Shiftee put on a strong demo to begin the Purple Lounge festivities. One person in attendance was even lucky enough to walk away with a brand new box of gear. Soon the room was full of people who came to see a big lineup of DJs using Traktor in their profession- DJ Klever, John Tejada and Daz-I-Kue. All-in-all, a very well-rounded night of music and learning thanks to the guys at Traktor.
