The Bay Area is known for many things. Good chinese food, Hyphy, LSD, Fisherman’s Wharf, and Haight & Ashbury. It also has an underground music community with alot of history. Electronic music has deep roots in the region known for embracing the experimental arts with so many accomplished artists laying claim to the Bay as their inspiration. Grime is no exception, born a London street music, it has grown into something that people across the globe can relate to, the Bay Area has been championing the sound for years with crews like B.I.G. and Grime City DJ’s providing a platform for the british movement. Artists like Wiley, and Dizzee Rascal are becoming house hold names. I believe Grime is about to make an impact on America, and you can mark my words on that.

The One aka Tone Thomas hails from Bay Area. I first worked with Tone a few years back when we launched TEKDBZ, a DnB, Hip Hop, Grime super crew with the mighty Photek, and world champion DJ Craze. The One is arguably the champion ambassador for Grime music in the states. He is outfitted with the latest cuts from all of the heavyweight producers and has worked with some of the top Grime lyricists.

Grime music is defined by Wikipedia as, “a sub-genre of urban music which first emerged in London in the early 2000s, primarily a development of UK garage, drum and bass, dancehall and hip hop. The music is typified by sparse and minimalist 2-step breakbeats, generally around 130-140 beats per minute, and an aggressive and fast rapping style – often in double time. The lyrics and music combine futuristic electronic elements; and dark, guttural, growling bass lines.”
