The Glitch Mob : Beyond Monday (video)

With a brand new website, an upcoming tour and the launch of their debut album titled ‘Drink The Sea’ out May 25, Los Angeles trio The Glitch Mob have started their promo push in a big way. With singles already out in support of the album, the crew teamed up with LA director and motion designer Brandon Hirzel to produce this fantastic piece of visual porn to get the masses ready for what the Mob are all about.

I was invited down to check out the filming of this piece and if you only knew the precision and forethought that went into this production, well, I was impressed to say the least. They transformed the side of a warehouse building in Downtown Los Angeles into a canvas for visuals created by Hirzel, mapped not only to audio cues, but to the dimensions and facade elements of the podiums and building itself. Blacking out the street lights, setting up the projectors accurately, dodging cars passing by and running a guerrilla shoot was no easy task but kudos to all involved because the finished product is pretty damn good.

Look for The Glitch Mob in your city in the upcoming months and go see them…trust me. They have such a great live show and tinker with every piece of live gig equipment you can think of to create their branded sound of bass heavy, distortion infused dubstep’esque glitch hop. Check www.theglitchmob.com for info on their upcoming album and tour dates. As well check out theglitchmob.com/beyondmonday for more info and some behind the scenes bits from the production of this video.

Brandon Hirzel (aka “Bemo”) and The Glitch Mob proudly present “Beyond Monday,” an experimental installation of art and sound. Live electronic music meets architectural projection-mapping synchronized in the depths of the Los Angeles’ industrial district, painting life back into the urban landscape through the celebration of electronic music, motion-design and film. Cinematographer David Myrick captures The Glitch Mob as they play Jazzmutant Lemur MIDI controllers in sync with Bemo’s detailed visual creations. Utilizing the city as their canvas and technology as their medium, this is truly a unique collaboration. “Beyond Monday” pushes the boundaries of modern digital art and marries the latest technologies in electronic music, motion design and film. – http://www.theglitchmob.com/beyondmonday
