I got together with my good friend Matt Deco to discuss his label project to let the Media Contender readers know what it’s all about.
In 2010 he started Deceast a label that is focused on releasing deep, soulful bass music across all genres and tempos. With current releases from himself, Bro Safari (Knick of Evol Intent), Mayhem & Section 8 and DEC002 from Atlantic Connection that has just come out (Available Now), he’s got a solid first few bits to really show the direction of the label.
Like most of you I’m sure, I like to talk about music with those that have a good grip on what’s going on. Deco is just that. He has a proper foundation in history and trends and has spent years involved in EDM from his days in college radio, drum & bass events in Atlanta and tour managing Evol Intent. He’s taking the stage as a DJ and works with some of the biggest dance music promoters in Los Angeles. I’ve always respected his opinion and look forward to what will come of this project. Labels these days are a dime a dozen but I think he definitely has a clear vision and has put a lot of time and effort into getting Deceast just how he wants it.
I got together with him to have a chat about what’s going on with the label. He shares his experiences and gives insight for those looking to get into something similar, here’s what he had to say.
For more info on Deceast and links to find its music and mixes go to: http://www.deceast.com.
I’m a big fan of the Deceast Mix Series available on his website. I grabbed the latest one for you, it’s referenced as a “mix of mid-to-late 1990s atmospheric drum & bass era typified by the Good Looking Records label,” and is a bit nostalgic if you’re a fan of that era. Classic sound, you should really download it right now.

He sound like he know what he’s doing. I hope hi label create great musics. Music these days are becoming bad to worse, most labels takes talents/artist base on their looks not talent.
