Introducing The Killabits – Free Tune + Mix

Let us introduce you to a couple of rising stars that go by the name of The Killabits. Hailing from Toronto, this duo has been as busy in the studio as they have been around Canada. In 2010 alone they had 16 releases, not including the special edits they use as weapons in their sets alongside a heavyweight cast of international talent including mini tours supporting Skrillex, 16 Bit, and Zeds Dead. As co-founders of Toronto’s premiere Bass music weekly, Bassmentality, The Killabits have garnered quite a following in their hometown which has landed them on major festivals such as Hard Fest (Toronto), Time Festival, and hosting numerous sold out shows with artists like Nero (video), Borgore (video) and Doctor P.

2010 was their break out year as they ventured into high profile remix work for Universal/Republic. Their Stephen Jerzak ft. Leighton Meester remix reached mass viral status with over half a million views in less than 6 months. Early in 2011 that same remix was released and broke into the iTunes USA Top 200 & Pop Top 100 Charts. You can check out their Hype Machine page HERE for a ton of their remix work. Most recently The Killabits have seen their debut release on LA based Play Me Records with their Hard Feelings EP of which I have included clips below. 2011 is set to bring bigger releases as well a North-American tour, and plans to head over-seas at the end of the year.

The Killabits have sent us over a brand new remix of This Crowded Room by Toronto artists Freedom Or Death. The feedback on this tune has been massive on the dancefloor and it is no surprise these two acts have decided to explore a collaboration project that should see the light of day sometime this fall so keep an ear out.

I asked the boys to put together a mini mix to really showcase what their gigs are really like. Known to throw down a banging but eclectic mix of dubstep and usually some drum & bass in there as well, you’ll definitely want to catch them if they roll through your town.
