Torro Torro: Exclusive Mix & Tune

TORRO TORRO LOGO BLACK Torro Torro have been floating around my musical circles for quite a while, from their tune “Knockin Boots” getting love from artists like Designer Drugs to their presence in the ever-growing Moombahton scene. I remember first hearing of Torro Torro right around the time of WMC back in 2010, their remix of Styrofoam Ones’ “O.T.T.A.P.” ripping through my car stereo and solidifying my taste for more. They’ve got a real knack for track progression and no matter what BPM they’re cranking things out at, it’s sounding awesome. After the success of “Knockin Boots” they’ve released another track with T&A Records, “Blue Blouse”. More than likely you’ve heard it over the rounds of shows and festivals through the summer, as well as getting regular plays on Radio1. The music video for the track is artful and creative, a playful perspective on the focus of the song using ballerinas and what must have been a ton of chalk…. and we have the exclusive :D

I am especially fond of their take on Diplo & Dillon Francis’ “Que Que”, and apparently many of you agree with me as it’s gotten a huge response. Assuredly the tracks themselves as well as the support from so many respected artists and scenes is cause to want to see them play, and fortunately for North America they’ve just hit the road on a college tour. Their monthly party, SLOWED, which just so happens to be Canada’s premiere moombahton party, has expanded to Toronto and Montreal as well.

The future looks extremely bright for the Canadian duo, with their first EP on the horizon, a new single “Country Club” slated for release, tons of remixes in the works for the likes of Codes, Munchi, and Kill The Noise… and last but not least collaboration efforts with a few different artists.

“We’ve got a number of great tracks in the pipeline and can’t wait to put the final touches on them and get them out to the public.” – Torro Torro

In a magnanimous gesture, Torro Torro have created an awesome moombahton-vibey mix for free download. It just goes to show that Moombahton CAN be technical and constructed, and is about so much more than a 110 BPM tempo. Including the likes of tech-y geniuses like Style of Eye and Gesaffelstein in the mix not only deserves a massive pat on the back but also proves the viral influence of Moombahton into the electronic spectrum. They’ve also provided their rework of Jeremy Glenn’s “New Life”, which has got a lovely disco-beach vibe to it.

All in all, I’m intrigued by everything these guys are doing. I think that their dexterity in various sounds and genres is clever and exciting and makes me happily anticipate their upcoming work. Big ups, Torro Torro!
