Steady – Playing Field Mixtape

SMOG’s own youngman Steady has a tangible thirst for music, evident in his well constructed sets and, in a more immediate sense, his newest mixtape, Playing Field. Hitting the mark at just over two hours long, it travels through the depths of dubstep, bringing in new and old tracks from producers across the board. Covering what could be said as a 126 minute glossary of dubstep, the mix does exactly what Steady does best: takes the listener on a journey that maintains your interest and excitement for its entirety. An impressive feat for a genre that can often be stigmatized as being “too much” to delve into a two hour mix for. Bouncy, Rusko style? In there. The deep, dark stuff? You bet. Jungle? Of course. That new Flinch track you’ve been meaning to get your hands on? PLEASE.

Whether this is the first or fiftieth time you’ve heard Steady throw down some tunes, it’s an excellent plethora of bass at a digestible pace. Strap your boots on, folks.
