I think this was the link I downloaded the mix cd from...but I also purchased the cd online prior to getting it online...I noticed...the cd version has a different Santogold x Benga - Unstoppable/Night Dub...

the CD version is better IMO. It has her unstoppable vocals over Night. The download I got has some dudes vocals.

Anyone notice this?

I copped this the week it came out. I have been a fan of Diplo for a long time now and was really excited that he was collaborating with Santogold. I know the albums are different, but I still haven't decided whether or not I like Top Rankings better than M.I.A. x Diplo's Piracy Funds Terrorism

great shirt!
It's not always as easy as right an wrong either...the two sides are virtually the same thing. A screen-print is art. A lithograph is art... it is just all about context. What is the reason for its creation. In the case of a shirt, its primary function is commercial, but we have elevated the status of the t-shirt to mass produced art in many cases. i.e. cotoure is not necessarily art, and art isnt nessisarily 'one of a kind'.

The original inspiration for this line of clothing is Walter Benjamin's 1936 essay "The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction". The main point of the essay is that tools like the printing press and the film camera have turned art into a commodity for mass consumption. Such innovations also transformed art into a political act rather than an act of ritual. Think cave paintings vs Obey wheatpastings. Lastly, mechanical reproduction effectively eliminated notions of "aura" from cultural artifacts: In the past, there was only one Mona Lisa whereas now there are an infinite number of copies spread across the globe and thus the original is no longer nearly as impressive.

The question to be asked now is what is the impact of digital distribution (such as this blog) on art?
